40B Repeal H-4455 Please Read from John Belskis

Please Read the following correspondence from John and consider the time and effort already devoted into having this 40B question placed on the ballot. John is correct in saying the Bill could die in committee unless additional signatures are collected, it happens more often than the average citizens may think!

From John,

We are a few short weeks away from a critical point in the repeal effort and I need your help. It is increasingly apparent that the Legislature will most likely let H-4455 remain in committee beyond the May 1st deadline. So this means that unless we can collect an additional 11,000 (more likely to be safe, 20,000 more) signatures between then and the end of May, the repeal petition will not get on the ballot !! Now comes the reality, we don't have the money to purchase the signatures we need, so unless the membership is willing to go all out and spend some days and the four weekends in May furiously collecting signatures, 40B will remain on the books and we all can enjoy the developer assaults that will follow.

Right now, what I need from each town (or a group of towns) is a town or rented facility where we can hold public informational meetings on 40B. We will provide speakers and presentations aimed at getting the 40B story before the public, while also gathering as many volunteers as possible to work on the signature campaign and if successful the November ballot campaign. Places like the Town's library, senior center, community meeting room, Church halls, etc. are optimal sites. Or if some of you have a local fraternal organization membership and they have a hall for member's use that may also be an alternative.

There is no tomorrow!! We either make this last full effort or suffer the consequences. A lot of time and effort brought us to this point, it will be sad if we lose it all expecting the "other person" to bring this home.

The signature drive won't begin until May but we're setting up for the effort as I seriously doubt if the Legislature will pass our Bill. I want to do local meetings to start building knowledge and support in the towns for both the signature drive and hopefully the November election.

The more people involved the better. Anyone that wants more info or join the team can go to our site, www.repeal40B.com
